The original "radios" (wireless) were emp's. They were spark gap transmitters and have been banned for yrears because they generate a huge range of frequencies and interfere with everything. All military chips are required to be rad hardened to protect the circuitry because an nuke gives off a huge emp pulse. And like all similar pulses they decay exponentially with distance. It would take a huge number of generators with enourmous power capacity to kill anyone and they are esy to shield against. Sorta like the death laser idea, you can shield from a laser beam with dust or fog. Big threat. The reson they wanted to use them against missles was to spend money, you can protect a missle by spinning it.
