Well, make has a history of being (ab)used for all sorts of purposes. I don't think I can reasonably claim that redo will cover all of them :-) (isn't Ports based on make?) However after my experiences with it I'm confident that it is flexible enough for all reasonable tasks. Most importantly though I found it much easier to get all dependencies correct in redo.
