I'm looking up information on the "tar" command in Unix, and the end of the man page says that a much more current manual should exist in the format of a Texinfo file.
So I tried "info -t tar | open -f -a Skim" to see if I could read in Skim as I have been doing with man files. First I got an error about -t. When I left that out, I still got an error: "The document "open_zMk2jzrQ.txt" could not be opened. Skim cannot open files in the "Notes as Text" format." Then I realized I was barking up the wrong tree... Now, I can see that Texinfo format files can be output as Postscript or pdf using texi2dvi or texi2pdf, but I'm not sure what the filename would be that I need to specify for the file that I read when I type "info tar". Anyone willing to coach me here? I think I'm getting close ;) Bill ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by: Microsoft Defy all challenges.
