I experienced the same problem with the PDFs downloaded from,
if I remember correctly, Phys. Rev. Lett. and Phys. Rev. B.  Reading
your message, I briefly tried to reproduce the error, but now every
document is quite clean (I tried about 10 newly downloaded documents).
