Hi, Here's an answer from "just a user"--
First of all, to highlight text you have to have a PDF that actually includes text, not just an image. It's possible you may just have a scanned image. If you have a file that contains text, there are two ways to create a highlight: 1) Use the text tool (black square with an "A") to select text, then click the "add highlight" button (yellow square with and "A" and a plus sign) OR 2) Use the highlight tool (far right in the tool palette, use the drop-down arrow if needed, select the yellow square with an "A"). Once you have that tool selected it will stay selected in the tool palette. Just click & drag across any text you want to highlight.
