Hi,
I guess I am happy with the Skim way of changing tools now I know the
t,n,c,b,u,h,l short cuts. What I am now trying to do is customise Skim that is
useful for writing corrections (such as spelling) on a PDF. I strongly
recommend you familiarise yourself with Jarnal
(http://www.dklevine.com/general/software/tc1000/jarnal.htm) if you haven't
done so already. A wish would be that Skim includes an aditional text tool
just like Jarnal's. Skim's note tool has its uses, but being able to simply
write between the lines of someones report would be very usefull, as often
margins are not wide enough for a bulky note - or at least are too fiddly for a
one word note.
To similulate Jarnals behaviour in Skim I need to:
---- change the note font colour. Why can't I do this? Should it be possible?
To change the font colour I go to preferences/Notes/Note fonts/Text a pop up
box appears. I then press the button that says Text Color. I select a colour,
close the boxes and write a new note, but the new note text is still black.
Ideally I would be able to change the default text colour at a click of a
button as well as font.
--- I would like the remove the textbox padding on the left and right of the
text box. Is there a hidden way of doing this? The padding is annying if you
try and fit a word in a tight space as the padding can run over the next word.
I have of course removed the boarder. This is however less important as I am
only using a solid colour background while I can't change the font colour.
-------
The only other problem I am having is with PDFs with two columns. If there is
an equation or a super or subscript in the neighbouring column when I highlight
a line in one colomn parts of the nieghbouring column get highlighted too. I
guess this would be difficult because of the way PDFs are coded, but it would
be nice if we could select a whole paragraph of one column in a PDF without the
nieghbouring column being included int the selection.
I am using the latest version of Skim on mac os 10.4.
Chris.
