Hello everybody, Skim has become a very powerful tool when dealing with pdf-files and making notes (even though for a historian there are much less online- papers or sources in pdf-format available than in other disciplines). One thing I have problems with fairly often is problems when making selections across page boundaries or over column-boundaries (for lack of a better word, I mean when selecting one sentence which starts in one column and continues up on the page in the next column). I can select text with alt-mouse alright, but are stopped and the end of the page or column. It would be handy when I could easily add to a selection to either create a text-mark or a note.
One example: Accummy convallis landignibh leo cursus vendipissit isisiscilit utet blam. Accummy convallis landignibh leo cursus vendipissit isisiscilit utet blam. Estie eros velenibh coremiscinim ver; dolendit ismolore ipsustie numsan Estie eros velenibh coremiscinim ver; dolendit ismolore ipsustie numsan exeros. Susciduipit dipissit laortie ipit idunt, facincilit ea tat. lan tristique faciliquis. Susciduipit dipissit laortie ipit idunt, facincilit ea tat. I select text between "Accummy" and "tat" in the first column, and while this text is still selected, press cmd-alt and are free to select (part of) the second column as well: either to create a note or a text-marker. Same problem with slection accrosse page-boundaries or when there are footnotes, which should not be selected. Currently working on a text in Skim often creates little text-snippets which are showing up in the note-pane alright but are not linked to each other. If it would be possible to create some working solution along the lines I demonstrated above would make it much easier (even more easier than now) to work with the Skim-notes. Hope I got myself clear enough… Greetings, Rolf -- Rolf Schmolling M.A. Historian, [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://rolf_schmolling.macbay.de/ ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This SF.Net email is sponsored by the Moblin Your Move Developer's challenge Build the coolest Linux based applications with Moblin SDK & win great prizes Grand prize is a trip for two to an Open Source event anywhere in the world http://moblin-contest.org/redirect.php?banner_id=100&url=/ _______________________________________________ Skim-app-users mailing list Skim-app-users@lists.sourceforge.net https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/skim-app-users
