Yes, I've tried others.  The conversion engines work from the command line.  
Also, TeXShop has no problem opening the DVI and converting it.

When I got 1.2.2, I noticed (via RCDefaultApp) that Leopard no longer 
automatically made Skim the default viewer for DVI's, whereas in the past, 
Leopard *always* assumed this, even putting Skim ahead of TeXShop in its list 
of preferred apps.  In fact, once I installed 1.2.2, Leopard wouldn't even 
recognize Skim as a "recommended" application for opening DVIs; I had switch to 
"all applications" in RCDefaultApp to force Leopard to associate Skim with DVI. 
 It now complies and attempts to open DVI's with Skim; Skim gets cranky and 
claims it can't open DVIs.

Did something change in info.plist to cause app associations to go crazy?
