Thanks. I only use text tool (in fact I just want to be able to click in the pdf without getting the notes). It can be that I press Cmd-5 by accident (close to Cmd-T which I use to run latex in a text editor, to build the pdf). Which brings me to the next question: can I bind Note tool to another key combination than Cmd-5?
