Tom Schneider and I have posted several shell scripts (
http://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawiki/skim-app/index.php?title=Shell_Scripts)
and AppleScripts (
http://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawiki/skim-app/index.php?title=AppleScript)
with
related functions, so we thought a comparative guide might help:

Shell scripts:

   - Tom's "skimembed" script embeds marks from Skim into the PDF file
   itself.
   - Tom's "skim" script launches Skim and sets hidden auto controls to
automatically reload a file when it changes. This is useful for displaying
   PDF files produced from LaTeX.
   - humanengr's "skimalot" script does batch format conversion: bundled
<-> unbundled and embedded <-> unembedded for all PDFs in a folder and its
   subfolders.

AppleScripts:

   - humanengr's Skim AppleScripts allow one-step shortcuts for embedding
   and unembedding.
   - humanengr's EagleFiler AppleScripts manage (from within EF) batch
conversion of selected PDF files: bundled <-> unbundled and embedded <->
unembedded. (Doing this within EF allows EF to properly maintain its
   library indices.)
