Hello all,

Thanks for input so far.

I realized something.

I save my documents on a network storage drive.

I tried using a PDF file on my local drive, and all works well with Skim.

Is there something with using a network storage drive that changes permissions?

How can I go about using my network share to store my files and not have problems with permissions with Mac OS?

Thanks for any ideas.

Joseph

I aldo think this is probably a disk permissions problem. Try opening the Disk
Utility application, Finder>Go>Utilities, and st the bottom of the window that
opens there should be a button “Repair Disk Permissions”… try that.

Hello Andreas,

Okay, I have an potential issue with permissions.

I looked up th epermissions of my file(s) and they are all:

660

I am the owner
the group is "staff"

I am not sure what "staff" means in this case.

So, since i own the file, why might I now be able to save it?

Thanks for any ideas.

Thanks

This is a problem of your system and has probably very little to do with Skim. Please
consult ordinary Macintosh/OS X permission documentation. "Finder -> Get
Info..." lower bottom is a starting point.

Hello,

I downloaded Skim last week.

I am having a challenge just saving a document.

I am using Mac OS 10.6.8.
2009 series iMac

When I save a document, it never works, unless I save it as a different name.
Then, it works.

I also tried exporting files as "notes to FDF". It works, but I seem to have a
permission problem when trying to open it in Acrobat Reader. I get the note:

"The comments could not be imported because the document's permissions do not allow
comment import operations".

What does this mean? How can I fix my file to make it read/view/dosplay the
notes.

I found this software and it seems to be able to do exactly what I need. But,
I need to figure out how to use it:)

Thanks for any help.

Joseph
