Thanks for the quick response. The templates work great.

I run into one problem though. I am regularly using the skimnotes tool "skimbulk" to extract notes from all pdfs in a directory. I changed the code of skimbulk a bit so that it creates .rtf's instead of .skim notes (see attachment).

Now, after modifying the default template "notesTemplate.rtf" (so that the built-in export option "notes to rtf" only produces text and anchored notes and no highlights etc.), I found out that skimbulk-skimnotes luckily does use that modified default option, but only for the pdf's that I recently modified (opened and saved). For the older pdf's it does not use the modified "notesTemplate.rtf" but seems to use the old one, producing .rtf files with all kinds of notes (highlights, line etc.).

I checked if it helped to make skimbulk-skimnotes first replace the .skim files of every "old" pdf with new .skim files (and then make skimbulk-skimnotes produce .rtf's from the old pdf's) but that didn't make a difference. I als tried if it is just a matter of "date modified", using the "touch" command in the terminal to change the "date modified" of older pdfs. That also didn't work.

The only thing that seems to work is opening and saving a pdf. Only after doing that, skimbulk-skimnotes uses the new, modified default "notesTemplate.rtf" (producing .rtf's with only text and anchored notes). It's of course not possible to do this for all pdf's... Do you maybe have another idea?

Misha

P.s. thanks for all the work and time!

The wat to do that is to write a custom export template. Some more information about export templates and how to install them can be found on the wiki.

Hi all,

Does anyone know if there is a way to only export "text notes" and "anchored notes" as text and leave out "highlight" notes or "line" notes?

(Please let me know if this is not the right place to ask small questions like this).

Thanks!

Misha
