BTW, neither the AppleScript property "extended text" nor the template key
"text" give you the text behind a highlight. They give the rich text from
an anchored note.

If you want the highlighted text in a template, you may try any of the
following:
selection.string
selection.cleanedString
selection.attributedString
textString

The last one is also valid for anchored notes, and is what is used in the
notes table when you click the expansion triangle. So that may be the
preferred key.
