[Skim-app-users] how to select "Fit to PDF"as default?

Skim opens pdf files into very large windows. I can make them reasonably 
sized by  Window? Fit to PDF. Is there a way to set this as default? Or 
more generally, can one set a default for the size of the opening 
window? I have tried several combinations of settings in 
"Skim/Preferences..." and "PDF/Use Current View Settings as Default", 
without success.
