Clark, Thanks for that suggestion. Plotly is kind of a hot mess. Setting the margin attributes as suggested at plotly.com works only part of the time, mainly, as far as I can tell, for 2D plots such as scatter and line plots. It does not work for surface plots, at least on the top and bottom. Go figure. So you are left with tweaking the size and at the same time the margins, and usually getting some kind of weird interaction. The destination for these is in LyX so I’ve spent a few hours there trying to tweak the clipping function which I suspect is not working correctly. And back in Plotly, it uses a different API for subplots, and many of the attributes that you might use in making a plot headed for a supblot are overwritten when inside the subplot. I’m using Plotly mainly because it makes gorgeous lighted surface plots which are highly interactive using the computer’s GPU.
