One of my colleague who works in our HR Team, Mr P.A Vivekanandan, aged 32, working as an executive in an IT company, faced a massive heart attack on 9th Feb 09. He suddenly collapsed and was admitted to the local hospital the same day. Upon the doctor's advice he was later moved to the Apollo hospitals, Chennai where he was treated untill 23rd Feb 09. Medical background As reported by the hospital, based on the detailed diagnosis, he is affected by Massive Pulmonary Thrombo Embolism with Cardiac Arrest. His heart, kidney, Brain and Lungs are very badly affected. Since he does not hail from a rich family, the parents were forced to move him out of Apollo and admit him at the AKN hospital ( Kellys, Chennai) considering the huge expenses. He was kept under observation with 100% Ventilator support. Even though the doctors sounded hopeless in the beginning, Vivek have shown some improvements in the past 5-6 days. As per the current reports He can be 100% cured, provided the money is not a constraint. Considering the severity, it is estimated that a long term hospitalization, from 6 to 9 moths would be needed for him to recover completely. He is the only son of his aging Parents. The aged and poor parents have already spent more than 700000 (7 Lakhs) Indian Rupees (borrowing from friends and selling whatever they could) and have knocked all the possible doors for arranging the same and saving their only son.
