Sounds sane to me. For clarity, the only part of the PR which touches cryptokit is an update to the `.hgignore` file, to exclude the extracted files so that Mercurial behaves better when creating commits. Since mercurial supports globs in `.htignore`, it might be better to just switch to `cryptokit-*` if this needs to be kept at all after dropping cryptokit. I don't think that dropping cryptokit blocks this PR; in fact, having this PR makes it easier to use newer OCaml and thus move forward.
