Also take a look at the www.webbench.com. An excellent free tool by ZDnet. They use it to stress test web server.
I have used it for the past 3 years.

assuming these are Windows servers, i'd suggest trying a stress tool like
Microsoft's Web App Stress Tool... it's really easy to use, and you can
manage multiple stress clients from one interface. it's free too...
you can script URLs to be hit from multiple clients, so if you're trying to
place load on the server by delivering content over HTTP, this should work.
you can watch the PERFMON stats on the server from this interface, so if
you're placing load on a Real or Windows Media Server, you should be able to
track that also.
