You'll probably need to re-install CdC to work with the upgrade to
XP. Win98/ME were the last versions of Windows based on a DOS
kernel. The NT/2k/XP versions have completely different "innards" so
a number of applications installed under Win98 won't execute properly
under XP.

Save your CdC data files to a temporary directory, uninstall CdC,
then re-install it. Hopefully that'll do the trick.

I just upgraded an old Win98 machine to XP over the weekend. My old
version of Norton AV (CE7) was installed under Win98. It refused to
uninstall and bolloxed up a number of other apps. Apparently this
was a known flaw, so there was quite extensive support info on
Symantec's web page...but I had to go in and manually delete all
references to NAVCE7 in the registry to get it purged from the
system.

Good luck...
