Under "Preferences" "Chart Appearances" are the buttons to set or 
unset the way nebula are displayed along with similar settings for 
the appearance of the Milky Way. If you "Saved Options" while the DSS 
image was active it is now default. Hit the Icon of the blue X across 
the camera and hit "Save Options" again. That should suppress the DSS 
images on startup.
