Many comets have been discovered over the centuries- to calculate the current positions of all of them and plot them would slow down the computer and clutter the screen. So first you have to select which ones you want CdC to plot:
Click preferences>catalogs and object parameters, then choose the "comets" tab. If you haven't done this in a while, click the "comet elements" button at the bottom of the comets window. This will download an updated list of comet elements for currently visible comets. Select the ones you want plotted from the list (hold down the control key while clicking to select more than one). Then click "ok" at the bottom of this window. Now the comet(s) you selected will be plotted.
