Hi Patrick, I finally took the plung and downloaded the latest V3 Alpha release. It looks impressive!
I also downloaded and ran the MySQL installer you posted and can't get it to run correctly. I've ran the full blown MySQL on this Win2K configuration previously so I know it will work if properly configured. I've had to re-image this machine a couple of months ago so there are no reminants of the previous MySQL on here anywhere. Here is the setup: Win2K SP4 with Dual boot option to WinNT 4.0 WinNT is on C partition Win2K is on E partition Data is on D partition CdC is installed on D partition When I ran your MySQL installer, the default install location was drive C. My WinNT partition has to stay clean of this stuff, so I changed the install to E:\Program Files\mysql I tried to create database as you instructed on the Version 3 alpha 0.0.7 information page, but CdC gives me Error 10061 "Can't connect to MySQL server on localhost" So I opened a DOS window and tried to manually start MySQL using the batch file and I get the error "Can't find messagefile 'c:\mysql\share\english\errmsg.sys'" then "Aborting" In Win2K I can see the service as available (automatic, but not started) but when I try and start the service, it gives me Error 1067 "The process terminated unexpectedly" I poked around the hard drive and in the registry for MySQL configuration parameters, but can't find anything that doesn't already point to the correct "E:\program files" directory. Looks like MySQL is hard configured for only a "C" drive install for Windows. Like I stated before, I have to keep that partition clean, so do you have any suggestions?
