Hi, I figured out how to plot the Rosetta path during March 4 flyby for any location. I give you some explanation to encourage you to observe this and participate to the ESA photo contest.
First read the general explanation here: http://www.rssd.esa.int/index.php?project=ROSETTA&page=Earth_Flyby Then follow the instruction on this page to generate the ephemeris for your location: http://www.rssd.esa.int/SB/ROSETTA/include/Horizons.html Save the result page in text format to the file Ciel\cat\externes\rosetta\rosetta.txt Edit this file to remove all the text line at the top and bottom . You must keep only the line full of number. Form CDC open the menu: Preference - Catalog Parameters, open the tab Size On a new line add: Show 1 Name Rosetta File cat\externes\rosetta\rosetta.txt Epoch 2000 Coord Format Num. 14.5 RAh 24.2 RAm 27.2 RAs 30.5 DE+/- 36.1 DEd 37.2 DEm 40.2 DEs 43.4 Diam 1 /deg 60 Desc1 2.11 Desc2 158.12 Color 8 Symbol 1 Check Show this catalogs Set the time to March 4 22h UT and look where you see it best, for me it is near western horizon. Menu File - Save Chart to easily recall this setting. Good luck for the observation! Patrick ------------------------ Yahoo!
