If you click the camera icon, you can navigate through your directories for an image. I don't know if CdC reads the RA/dec, image scale, or orientation of the images from keywords in the fits file header to place the image at the correct location, scale, and orientation.
I agree it would be nice if you could zoom and pan with an image on the chart.
