I was just outside (9:26pm cst) and found G1 (Mayall II) with my dob.  
It was quite faint.  I used a Celestron 20mm with a Celestron 2X 
barlow.  I followed the chart in the Dec S&T on page 78.  It is almost 
overhead at my location of 42N 89.6W and in the dob hole so moving the 
scope around was a chore.  Give it a try.
