Actually, you do not have any settings wrong in CDC, the problem lies in the catalog itself. In my compiled database that I extract the CDC catalog from, I insert the most common name of the galaxy from the list of names found in the HyperLEDA database (e.g. PGC0036670=NGC3873). Several persons other than CDC use the compiled database. To aid in identifying a galaxy, I insert the PGC nomenclature in the name field for galaxies that do not have a common name. When CDC displays the PGC catalog, it places the PGC label on the display automatically, and then displays the name found in the catalog if present. Thus, when you choose to display the label for a PGC galaxy, you get the PGC nomenclature automatically inserted by CDC and the PGC nomenclature found in the database. This is the source of the double labels.
I have rebuilt the PGC catalogs and removed the PGC nomenclature from the name field. This eliminates the double labels. Galaxies with other identifiers will still display the alternate nomenclature beside the label. This makes it easy to identify NGC/IC/MGC/UGC galaxies with just the PGC catalog turned on. You can download the new PGC catalogs from http://x.astrogeek.org/software/cdc/catalogs.php For Linux users, the PGC catalogs are available in tarball format at the following url's. Simply extract the files from the tarball and place them in the <CDC Installation Directory>\cat\pgc drectory.
