First post. Have been using version 2.76 on WIN-ME and WIN-XP
with P4-3.2 GHZ without problems. Then I installed both versions on
an old P2-266MHZ laptop (256MB RAM) and also on an old desktop P2-
450MHZ (512 MB), to confirm the BETA problem. Different systems,
processors, memory, video cards, disk capacity, etc., but problem is
identical.
Both old PC's hang when the CDC window opens to enter "Program
Setup" values - doesn't matter if by clicking on tool icon, or from
menu entry. The CIEL window opens, and is filled with the a clip of
the "underlying skymap section". I can drag that "program setup"
window around, and it still contains a copy of the clipped out CDC
map - it should have been filled with the various tree items to
configure Skymap. The only way to close the program is CTRL-ALT-DEL
and delete the SKYMAP task. All other features of the BETA appear to
work - just can't get into setup to define Observatory, etc.
The old version 2.76 works perfectly on both these old PC's
running Windows ME, so it shouldn't be a video card problem.
I really like the way the BETA version looks, a great update, but
I wish I could fix this problem to make it run on my old WIN-ME
field laptop.
I would appreciate any help you can provide me.
Regards,
Joe
