I think you missed the last option: with TYC, but without hyphens. When in doubt, click search>find... (or the binocular icon). This window usually gives you a guide to the format (this is how I found the solution). For example, select the "stars" tab, and click the last option "TYC2". The "zzzz nnnnn" shows the format: no "TYC", no hyphens, and the last digit appears to be irrelevant. I assume TYC is not needed here since you've already told it which catalog to search. I tried using just "5842 00849" in the main search box in the upper bar, but it didn't work until I added the TYC.
