Yes...and no. There was a southern sky supplement that added another 1,300 objects, making 4,000 or so entries in total in the Abell catalogue. It retained the same numbering scheme and was published in 1989. The original 2,712 entries in the 1958 catalogue were also updated in the 1989 paper.
