All working now, thanks, John.

There are a couple of points that others may not realise, though.

1.  The B objects are accessable from the SAO catalogue.  I discovered 
this whilest trying to solve my problem before I got your reply.

2. In Find, having selected the external catalogue, one only enters the 
number in the id box without the B.  For example entering B33 returns 
"Not found" but "33" finds B33.

I've not confirmed this for sure, but I think you also have to select 
the "Save position and Options" choice on exiting the program, otherwise 
it forgets about it.
