E.g. Messier has a file named messier.cds

This kind of catalogues are installed using an other method than
catalogues with a .hdr-file.

The proper path for *.sdd, *.cds and *.cdm files are in z:\Program
Files\Ciel\cat\externes\xxx where xxx is e.g. abell, ds2000, gliese, ...
and z: is the logical drive name, e.g. C: or E:
Each catalogue .zip file contains a relative path, so when you unzip
them, make sure to do this to z:\Program Files\Ciel (or wherever you
have installed CdC)..

Alternatively you may choose another approach - definitely NOT
recommended as a permanent solution, but it provides a simple way to
test whether the problem is related to path.

Start CdC, select Catalogues, pick a catalogue and set the File Path to
point to the files.
If this works, close CdC, move all files to the proper paths as per
above and set the File Path accordingly.

If this does not solve your problem, please expand on what you did while
installing the files, etc.
