Hi Renato,

Among the several possibles causes, I try to find the most probable.

In the menu, under "Preferences" -->"Labels" assure that "Display" is checked.
Then click on "Options..." and, in the window, look at the right side and check
all the types of objects you like to see labelled. Now, set the limit magnitude
of those selected objects to a low value, say 2 or 3 for example. As much it is
lower more objects will be labelled. Accept it and look at the performance of
labelling in the M47 neighbourhood.

Also, in "Preferences"--> "Identification", check "Show label" (Short or long,
according to the degree of detail you want)

I think it will be enough to solve your problem. Perhaps now too much labels!
If not, please tell us again.

Kind regards.

Antoni

  Antoni,

  I'm using 2.76. Should I use beta 3?

As I mentioned, it appears only open clusters don't show the labels on
the screen (using SAC as the Nebulae database "checked").

For example while M46 and M47 labels show up, nearby NGC 2423 (above
  M47) doesn't.

If I click on the Nebula, the label (black background, white font)
appears. It disappears once I remove the cursor.

  Thanks,
  Renato
