I'm not running Vista. But I don't expect this is a bug, because the 
program with my computers (WinXP and SuSE Linux) do fine. Probably 
the display of those objects is switched off. 
Can you check your settings? From the documentation I can do some 
suggestions.

Good chance that you have set the display filter for comets and 
asteroids to a value by which there aren't objects left to display. 
Try Setup -> Solar System -> Comet. Now, at he bottom of 
the "General" tab, you can change the value "Show comets [x] 
magnitude fainter than the stars". Set this to a rather high value, 
for example to 12. Choose a FOV of 90 degrees, and display the 
ecliptic somewhere in the center. Now I expect you will have some 
comets displayed. They may be hard to find. You can switch them on 
and off by clicking at the comets display button. 
You can do the same for the asteroids. 

A last suggestion: Did you prepare the monthly data for the 
asteroids? I guess so, otherwise have a look here:
