Thanks for this download, Patrick. I unpacked the three zipfiles and then 
compared the display of a 30'x30' region centered on NGC5437. That's an area 
where I had already been doing a comparison of a DSS (POSS-1) image to the 
displays in AstroPlanner 1.6.1, Cartes du Ciel 2.76c, and Stellarium 10.

This is how CdC displays the region with the 6.03GB USNO-A2.0 catalog:

I hope these comparisons are of interest to some of you out there. My 
conclusion is that the new 2.37GB UCAC3 is good enough to show me more stars 
than I can see in the eyepiece of my 14" reflector, but with disk space so 
cheap these days I'll probably keep the 6.03GB USNO-A2.0 installed to use in 
both AP & CdC, and delete the UCAC3 catalog.
