Hi there,

I have various problems with my CdC and I hope you can help me out.

1. When I start CdC v2.76 the following message appears: "write correct
path: ?\C:\Programme\Astronomy\Cartes du Ciel\Complete (Base) Package
2.76\cat\gmc31\" .
I think this message refers to the "gcm31"-catalog with the "31gc.hdr"
which can be activated in the section "catalogs" in "catalog settings",
because when I deactivete it the mentioned error message does not
appear. The problem now is that the path for this catalog is correct -
otherwise I could not activate it, could I? - but this message appears
nevertheless. And it's getting on my nerves since there's obviously
something wrong in the program. Can you help me here?

2. When I give in e.g. "Sun", an object is centered and shown exactly
(as I guess) in the opposite direction of the real sun. What's going on
here? Also I happened to find some stars named "Gliese", but I strongly
assume it's not the famous Gliese581-star with several exo-planets
around it.

3. I just don't get it how to import catalogs with the catgen. For
example, I'd like to see relevant comets and asteroids. When I play
around with the Comet and Asteroids-section and connect with Harvard.edu
the error message "Read Bytes: 515 / Error: 302 Found" appears...and
nothing else happens. I also downloaded the relevant asteroid-catalog
with around 230'000 asteroids and tried to creat a catalog with CatGen.
But where do I find the "maximum magnitude" (useful for magnitude scale
calibration as described in the "help-section")...here I deleted the
magnitude since I don't know anything and a wrong number could have
strange asteroid-display-consequences as I thought... or the "equinox"
and "epoche"? What about "nebulae parameters" in asteroid- and
comet-contexts? When I give in the "output catalog settings" and the
"output directory" at the end and try to "Build catalog" there comes
only the message " " is not a valid floating point value". What to do?

Thank you very much so far!

I'm new here and I hope you can help me out.

Thanks again, greetings and Clear Sky

Luzius
