Hi... Kev here. I'm fairly new to skychart but I've really been enjoying it. I also have Starry Night Pro but I think that will be collecting dust.
One of the key features of skychart is the integration with AstroPlanner which I use for planning lists and recording sessions and observations. The integration is pretty minimal (set the FoV and that's about it) but it is still pretty useful. One feature I would like to see is to highlight objects in skychart that I've recorded observations for in AstroPlanner. While having integrated planning and logging in built into skychart might be nice, if it is done anything like Starry Night then it would be a waste compared with the capabilities of AstroPlanner. The Starry Night implementation seems to be an after-thought. One of my favorite features of AstroPlanner that would be a must-have if planning/logging features are ever included in skychart is the concept of sessions and observations. A session covers a group of observations and allows me to record notes related to the evening's viewing but not specific to an observation (temp, seeing, transparancy, goals, mood!). If you are enjoying skycharts but missing planning/logging, consider checking out AstroPlanner for now. I'm just a user and not related to AstroPlanner in any other way.
