Hello there, I have difficulties finding objects like stars in the search toolbar and the "Find catalog Id". When I want to find e.g. HD7032, there comes this message in the toolbar-way: Required file : cat\bsc5\hd.idx is not installed. Please update your installation to search using this identifier. The same message for the "Find catalog Id"-way.
I downloaded all there is from the skychart-site down to "CatGen 1.3", so also the Search Index stuff. The additional catalogues, schoenball.de, and ASG Astrogeek catalogues. Not the obsolete catalogues and Input things...I don't know how to handle these "mirrors" and how to create a catalogue with CatGen - tried it but it doesn't seem to work. Have to ask about this in a later subject. But now...where do I have to activate those search index'? In catalogues, size, or magnitudes? There is .cdm, and .cds. But where to activate .idx??? And if this is a zipped file which I have to unzip in which folder do I have to save it that it works properly? In the CdC-basics-folder or where? I learned from earlier problems at the beginning of my CdC-history that all these catalogues etc. create a hell of a mess. Especially when they just create folders somewhere after installation and you don't know anymore where what is. On newer pc's and notebooks I tried to organize it this way that the CdC basics programme has it's own folder and all the additional catalogues are in a special folder and each of them has a folder with the catalogues name. But some things seem to exist twice, maybe more...who knows in this chaos. There is an original bsc5-folder in the CdC-basics. And under additional catalogues I have a bsc5. Some things seem to be at several places and sometimes there are orders to download catalogues into a specific folder etc. Just a hell of a mess! Please help! It would be creat to be able to search for particular stars by Id and not by coordinates. Thanks very much L.
