Taking your second question first, the SkypeWatch part of the scripts can announce who is calling. The procedure shown on my web site at
http://www.dlee.org/skype/ for installing SkypeWatch is admittedly complicated-looking, but most of the length of that procedure is to keep people that are less familiar with file management operations, like moving and deleting files, from making a big mistake that disables JAWS. Boiled down, the whole procedure really amounts to copying one file, creating a small script, and compiling it. In any case, if you have SkypeWatch running, go to the Notifications page of Skype Options and check the types of Skype alerts you want, because SkypeWatch will announce them now. For incoming calls though, there are two types of alerts, and you need the Systray type, not the Skype Call Alert type. Unfortunately, the arrow keys do not work for those two radio buttons, so you have to check the Systray Alerts type with the JAWS cursor. Once you do that and save the changes though, you should start hearing caller identification within a couple seconds of each incoming call. Alt+Shift+F9, or Ctrl+ScrollLock+F9 to keep up with the recent JAWS keystroke changes for this sort of thing, will repeat the last alert, so if you missed who is calling, you can find out that way, besides the obvious method of going to the Skype Call/Answer submenu to find out. Finally, there is an experimental but well-received Skype Command Mode system in Skype, involving multiple keys to run one script, in sort of a menu structure. In that system, which is documented on my web site in release notes but not so well yet in the scripts themselves, there is a method of reviewing the last ten notifications. Regarding script development, the current way people do it is to modify a version and send me the file(s) changed along with an indication of what revision they started from, so I can locally generate diffs and merges. The Skype scripts are now managed in Subversion, though I hope to move them to Bazaar when I get the time. Bazaar lives at http://bazaar-vcs.org and is a pretty new thing, but a nice version control system in my book. I am working on a script update that will contain a number of new features, some of which I already mentioned on this list in the last week or so. In all likelihood, I will release a beta version of the scripts in the next few days, because I will need people to help me figure out what needs to be done for older JAWS versions at least. New features include typing announcement and sound like in MSN and other messengers, on-the-fly Command Key changing ability, automatic updating of SkypeWatch installation after a JAWS update, speaking of Skype Prime payment requests as they appear, SkypeWatch notification list saved across JAWS restarts, and a number of bug fixes. I do welcome suggestions and modifications, though time sometimes delays my handling of these. I'm sure there is more that could be done with the help, as you said. There are also people working on translations into other languages now, which is something I admittedly struggle to manage because of the complexity of keeping all that in sync. As part of that, there is a need to make constants out of a lot of strings, but I run into problems taking strings out of jsl files because I share those among many projects... but I digress. <grin> Thanks for the kind words and offer of assistance.
