Gary, Skype Watch is a feature that allows JAWS to read messages automatically like instant messages, status, calls and other such information. At the moment it is required for this to be manually setup by modifying a script file. I think the important thing to mention, which the documentation does stress is to follow everything word for word and character for character. This can make the difference between having everything working including the Skype Watch or JAWS rendering useless. This is from personal experience of having both JAWS rendering useless and having it work successfully with the Skype Watch feature working as well.
Doug Lee is planning on having this be automated in the future, but until that time comes, be sure to follow the documentation really carefully.
