Thanks for the info. Thanks too Jim and Sarah's comments on this as well as all
have allowed me to arrive at a useful result.
It wouldn't let me add the control+scroll lock assignment to the script. I
guess that is because it is a prefix. I have mapped windows-n to this and have
the functionality I require with the convenience I need.

Not sure I understand your specific suggestions for what keys to use,
but you can add any key you want to default.jkm and connect it to
swSayAlert as the scripts do for Alt+Shift+F9 and Ctrl+ScrollLock+F9.
I picked those two assignments because older JAWS versions use
Alt+Shift+functionKeys for repeating various messenger alerts and new
JAWS versions use Ctrl+ScrollLock+functionKeys to do it.
Ctrl+ScrollLock+functionKeys are sometimes difficult or risky to type
on laptops, so I keep both mappings. I am not likely to add more
official mappings because there is no way to know what I may be
colliding with when creating global hotkeys like that. If you map
your own key to swSayAlert in default.jkm though, Skype script
updates, JAWS updates, etc., should not remove your custom assignment.

lock-f9 for last notification works OK, but find it a rather unweildy
combination to jump to in a hurry. In checking around, I found control-scroll
lock isn't used for anything, so wonder how difficult it would be to remap
that? Alternatively, win-scroll lock is unused and would work as well.

Alt shift f9 works as well but is just as unweildy.
