Not sure this got answered... Try a Ctrl+4 before you use Alt+numbers to read chat lines. If that still doesn't work, make sure you're using Skype in the English language. Unfortunately, sometimes the scripts won't work very well with other languages, usually because I had to use some wording from the screen to identify something, and a change of language changes the words on screen.
