I could check for whether you're in a chat, but you might want those in a mood text as well, or an SMS message. I still might implement that sort of thing, but it didn't seem urgent.
As for the Mute-Microphone keystroke issue, I recommend Alt+Windows+M for that. Alt+Shift+M or even just Alt+M should work as well, though Alt+M might someday conflict with a Skype shortcut.
