This week has been something of an irony on this list I think: The
moderator lost computer access, one person started a new list and
announced it because he wanted more list moderation, then more people
wrote "me too" messages than ever I've seen on this list countering
the need for a new list.

To all who wrote in support of this list, Sarah, and myself, thank you
for your thoughts and sentiments. I think enough of them have been
expressed now to comprise a clear statement of majority opinion.

So why an irony? The term "moderation" usually means "control" to us,
when referring to a mailing list. But in the expression, "everything
in moderation," it means something more like "balance"--staying away
from extremes. The call for moderation sent us to extremes.

Sarah's computer is now back online, though she's still restoring
files and such and is thus still not fully here. I humbly suggest we
stop the thread regarding the new list and wait quietly for Sarah to
come back and read through all this mail.

So may the list run in moderation, even when not moderated by a
moderator. :-)
