Hi Mike, I can appreciate your frustration but most people aren't lazy
they're ignorant. Moderators don't train people to use their archives and
test messages are disallowed on only a few lists to which I've belonged over
a ten year period. Most moderators encourage personal introductions to
break the ice so to speak. I'm not sure how useful they are on tech lists
though. We're not going to become intimate with each other as might happen
on a friends list. If you want to perform a constructive deed consider
developing a podcast or a written tutorial on using the lists archives.
There are google tutorials already. Keep in mind the list membership is
comprised of people of varying degrees of computer literacy. To cut down on
the amount of traffic I have to wade through I have my posts separated by
conversation so I can mass delete those repeated messages and tests at a
click.
Just my two cents.

Subject: [Skypeenglish] Probably Leaving This List

Hello all...

I am probably going to leave this list. In about a month, I have received
600 messages on this list. Yes, 600 messages, mainly asking the same
questions over and over, people introducing themselves, etc. Come on guys,
google! is! there! to help you! Whenever I have a question, I type it into
google, and usually find the answer within minutes! You guys are obviously
too lazy to use google, or even your email client's search feature, so you
have to ask the same questions, over, and over, and over, and over, and
over, and over, and over, and over, flooding my inbox with pointless crap!
Oh, and do you really have to send test messages every day? Paranoia! Your
email client doesn't just break! This list doesn't just break!

Did I mention that the questions, a lot of them, can be answered with a few
minutes research, or even a little digging around in the Skype program (i.e.
turning on global hotkeys)? If I did, please excuse me.

Interested to see what you guys think of all this. It's the truth!

Mike
