Hi, David!
When you put it this way guess it' necesary to explain a few things.
I could use a line or two to count all of the chat software and protocols,
but i won't, let's suppose that you and rest of the people on the list know
at least three of them. And guess what? ALL of them has built in emoticons,
most of them has emoticon packs you can download from the net. And what does
it tell you? OK, I agree, everyone is in title is to have personal
preferences and opinion, but somehow I think this kind of thinking is in
minor opposite to whole Internet community. Personally, I'd survive not to
have and use emoticons, but, I really get crazy sometimes when i chat on ICQ
and Jaws talks "Graphic 453" in the end of every chat message. It is
annoying when the same thing happens on Skype, and when I disable displaying
of graphic emoticons, than I get "colon right parent", "colon left parent"
etc.
So, let's recapitulate on this. Emoticons are there no matter if we like it
or not, and since they are there, I believe that is correct that a blind
person can use their benefit if he or she wants to.
Another thing about "stealing" MSN's or some other dictionary file. I can
do it for myself, and i can use it, but, if person I'm chatting with
doesn't have it stolen, I can try to express my feelings with emoticons all
day long, and person on the other side will not be aware of it. That is the
one more reason to have a dictionary file, with the option to use it or not,
of course.
I also agree that automating Skype Watch is priority, so I won't bother on
this one, but please, try not to push your thinking and opinion this way. I
can remember that somebody few weeks ago also told that he doesn't use Skype
Watch and that he doesn't have any need for it, so if we make a parallel,
why should anybody else use it?
Scripts are usually written to assist us to get the most from some program
and I believe that making access to possibilities should be from the
objective point of view., don't you think so?
