You have the correct solution: She has to enable classic mode. That makes the menu bar standard enough for JAWS to work with. From the way you wrote your message, I suspect she's having trouble changing modes. Make sure she knows how to find the option and check the correct radio button, then that she tabs to Save rather than just pressing Enter to close the Options page.
