Ok, we're getting somewhere. I checked, and there was an update for JAWS,
which I ran, and the annoying error message is gone. My computer never shut
down of its own accord, it only gave me the error message after I had
initiated shut-down, just after the Windows music. And, I am running XP, so
you can add me to that tiny list.
Now, I wonder about the file I installed? It was skypewatcher
installer1.00.3rc.exe. A friend sent me another zipped folder, whose name is
SWSetup. Is there a difference between the two, and if so, which should I be
using. If I installed the wrong one, can I fix it? I hope these questions
make sense.

Got a few things to say here...
First, from your email, it sounds like you're using the new security
release of JAWS 11, or possibly the security release of JAWS 9 or 10.
There is a known problem in those JAWS versions wherein you hear those
messages about assigning keys. The messages are admittedly annoying
but harmless, and in my experience, they only occur on login and UAC
screens, and only in Vista and Windows 7. I have heard that one or
two people may have heard those messages in Windows XP though.
You say your machine is shutting down. SkypeWatch shouldn't cause
that even if installed incorrectly, so I'm not sure what's going on
there.
As for getting SkypeWatch to announce things, once it is correctly
installed, you'll need to make sure you have enabled the appropriate
systray alerts for the things you want announced. That's done through
Tools, Options, Notifications in Skype itself.
And yes, it's ok to share Skype names on this list. We try to
minimize the social chatter but not squelch it entirely. :)
