Hi all,
Since I still got feedback even after fixed RC2 that SkypeWatch Installer
doesn't work properly for X64 Windows, I decided to test this myself.
Today I installed Windows 7 64-bit on my PC with AMD Sempron 64-bit
capable processor, and after some testing and trying to hack the program
so it can find JAWS path properly, I was out of luck.
The problem is, JAWS saves the "Target" value in the same registry
location like 32-bit version (not under Wow6432Node), however SkypeWatch
Installer may not find it on X64 Windows for some reason. The
%ProgramW6432% environment variable works, but I am not sure that this
variable exists on Vista too.
Therefore, my last solution was to build a 64-bit executable
binary for SkypeWatch Installer, so I installed 64-bit Python with all
required dependencies, and after doing this and testing, it worked with no
problems!
So, the final SkypeWatch Installer will be available in both 32-bit and
64-bit versions for download. These will be a separate downloads, so
64-bit users will need to download X64 version from my web site and not
X86!
I hope this will work for Intel64 too, since I don't have an Intel64
machine to test this. But on AMD64 and Windows 7 it works fine.
