You are describing what sounds like a problem involving the Skype Command key system. There is a key, the left bracket ([) by default, that will say "Skype" and let you type a Skype script command key sequence that makes JAWS do something instead of typing into your current application. For example, the sequence [ c l will list the open conversation windows. The click you hear at the end indicates that you are leaving this mode and returning to the application. But you're saying that *any* key starts a sequence? This I don't understand. You can change the command key in Verbosity Options (JAWSKey+V). My suspicion is that you accidentally changed it at some point. Recommendation: Type JAWSKey+V, arrow down to "Skype Command Key," and check what it is. Depending on your punctuation settings, you may have to type JAWSKey+UpArrow twice to spell the line in order to find out what the actual key assignment is. If it's something you don't want, press Space once, then press the key you want to change it to. Finally, close the Verbosity Options box by pressing Esc or Enter.
