Not sure what is happening there. Here's how it works for me: I open
New Contact, skip past the edit box without typing into it, and press
Space or Enter (usually Space for me) on the Add a phone number link.
I land in a Name edit box, which I fill in with the name I want shown
for the contact. I then tab through and possibly adjust a combo box
indicating the type of phone number (home, mobile, etc.) I'm about to
enter. I reach an edit box with no spoken name and type the number
into it. I then tab several more times past some links, and finally
press Space on a Save Phone Number button.

The instructions are a good start.
When I press enter on the add a phone number to Skype link, it goes
out and shows me the results of the search that I never authorised it
to do, and won't let me complete the process. I've apparently jinxed
myself somehow.
